FANUC will introduce a cooperative robot with a 50-kilogram payload capacity in August. This robot was developed to handle the assembly process of in-vehicle batteries in line with the spread of electric vehicles (EVs), and can be converted to a high payload type by updating the software of existing cooperative robots.

With the CR series cooperative robots, FANUC has increased the payload capacity to 50 kg without changing the product’s 35 kg payload, enabling the robots to be widely used for transporting large workpieces and attaching/removing workpieces to/from machine tools. It also has the advantage of removing the robot’s operational limitations and adapting to the space available on the work site.

Furthermore, the robot can be converted to a highly portable type through software updates, eliminating the need for new purchases or replacements.

These developments were made with the 50-kilogram weight transfer needs in mind, as well as safety features that allow the robot to detect even the slightest external force and immediately stop if it comes in contact with a person.
