Toyota Motor Corporation has announced the establishment of a new specialized organization for the hydrogen business, “Hydrogen Factory.” The organization will be responsible for the development of fuel cell and hydrogen-related products and will strengthen its partnership strategy in the rapidly growing European and Chinese hydrogen-fueled mobility markets. The establishment of the organization will consolidate development resources and accelerate business.

The hydrogen business domain will be transferred from the CV Company, which is in charge of the commercial vehicle business, to the new organization. The first phase is expected to employ approximately 1,350 people, with Powertrain Company President Mitsumasa Yamagata serving as president of the new organization.

Existing vehicles such as the FCV “MIRAI” and FC trucks will be manufactured by each in-house company. In addition, the current “GR Company” will continue to be in charge of the development of hydrogen engine vehicles.
